As the leaves start to change color and the air turns crisper, October is the perfect time to embark on my West Coast adventure, and I'm thrilled to announce that I will be spending the next week in the beautiful cities of San Francisco and San Jose. This vibrant part of California has so much to offer, from stunning natural landscapes to bustling urban centers, and I can't wait to explore and soak in all that it has to offer.
I have made a plan of dates that I am keen to go on in these areas - if you would like to take me on a date, email me and let me know ;)
In this blog, we will explore some must-visit places, evening date ideas, and the most romantic spots that these cities have to offer.
San Jose:
Japanese Friendship Garden: Begin your journey with a tranquil visit to the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose's Kelley Park. With its serene koi ponds, meticulously landscaped gardens, and a stunning bamboo grove, it's a perfect spot to enjoy a romantic stroll and take in the natural beauty.
Downtown San Jose: Explore the heart of San Jose by wandering through the charming downtown area. Enjoy the vibrant arts scene and discover hidden gems in local art galleries. You can also try out some of the diverse and delicious dining options in the city.
Evening Date Idea - Santana Row: As the sun sets, head to Santana Row for a memorable evening. This upscale shopping district transforms into a romantic paradise with twinkling lights and an array of world-class restaurants. Try pairing wine with a delicious meal at one of the many fine dining establishments.
San Francisco:
Golden Gate Park: Start your San Francisco adventure with a visit to Golden Gate Park. This vast urban oasis offers a multitude of romantic spots like the Conservatory of Flowers, Shakespeare Garden, and Stow Lake. You can rent a rowboat and paddle out onto the lake for a charming, intimate experience.
Lands End Lookout: For breathtaking views and a romantic, windswept atmosphere, visit Lands End Lookout. It's the ideal spot for a romantic walk along the coastal trail while taking in panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Evening Date Idea - Ghirardelli Square: For a sweet ending to your day, head to Ghirardelli Square. It's home to the world-famous Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, where you can indulge in decadent chocolate treats. The square is also a fantastic place to enjoy dinner with a view of the bay.
Romantic Places to See or Go in Both Cities:
Alum Rock Park (San Jose): If you and your partner are nature enthusiasts, don't miss a visit to Alum Rock Park. This scenic park boasts picturesque trails, mineral springs, and serene picnic spots, offering a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
Alcatraz Island (San Francisco): While it may not sound inherently romantic, a visit to Alcatraz Island provides a unique and intriguing experience. Explore the history of the former prison while taking in stunning views of the bay.
Sunset at the Beach (Both Cities): The California coastline is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets. Find a quiet spot on one of the beautiful beaches in either San Jose or San Francisco and watch the sun dip below the horizon for a truly romantic experience.
Wine Tasting (Both Cities): The Bay Area is known for its wineries, so consider a day of wine tasting in the surrounding wine country. Savor local wines and create lasting memories with your partner.
